IS WINTER HERE TO STAY IN THE OGDEN VALLEY?

It’s Cold!!!

Record-setting frigid air descended on Utah, and in particular, the high elevations of the Ogden Valley, and has been with us for the past week.  It was -11 degrees at my house one early morning.  Snow is covering the slopes of Snowbasin and Powder Mountain, and the snow guns are on at Snowbasin.  If you’re willing to hike, and you’re careful, you can join those already making turns.  With an early preview of winter, excitement is building for an early start to the ski season.

But are we really finished with the milder temperatures of Fall?  Is winter here to stay?  Open Snow is predicting dry conditions until the middle of the month and warming temperatures, but cold enough overnight to allow snowmaking to continue.  History tells us we shouldn’t be surprised if we lose some of the early base at the resorts, but there is a lot of anticipation with the quick shift to winter-like weather.

Lisa’s Deal-of-the-Month!

My monthly newsletter now includes a “Lisa’s Deal of the Month” – a coupon for a discount at a Ogden Valley business.  The inaugural Deal for October was buy one cup/get a cup free – for coffee at the world-class First Lift Coffee Shop in the Compass Rose Lodge in Huntsville.  If you haven’t visited the Compass Rose and the hotel’s observatory, which are gaining worldwide attention for design, quality, and hospitality, it’s well worth a trip to Huntsville Square.

Are you not receiving my newsletter and the coupon?  Would you like to? Please email me at lisa@lisakaram.com, and I’ll add you to the list.  If you live locally and I have your physical address, I’ll also mail you a postcard with a coupon.
